In my latest video interview, I sat down with the team at Global X ETFs to discuss a truly unique fund in the income space: the Global X Dow 30 Covered Call ETF (DJIA).
Check out our full conversation below, along with a quick breakdown of why this fund stands out.
What is the Global X Dow 30 Covered Call ETF (DJIA)?
The Global X Dow 30 Covered Call ETF (DJIA) follows a covered call strategy on the iconic Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Here is how it works under the hood:
The Core Holding: The fund buys the 30 mega-cap, blue-chip companies that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
The Income Engine: It then writes (sells) covered call options on the index to generate premium income.
While covered call ETFs on the S&P 500 or Nasdaq-100 are fairly common, Global X is the only fund company with a Dow 30 covered call ETF available in the U.S. market today.
Why I Like DJIA
There are three main reasons this ETF caught my attention:
Blue-Chip Quality: The Dow Jones Industrial Average is packed with established, financially sound market leaders (like Microsoft, Home Depot, Goldman Sachs, and Caterpillar). You’re getting exposure to high-quality balance sheets rather than high-speculation growth stocks.
A Distinct Exposure: Most covered call investors are heavily concentrated in tech-heavy funds tracking the Nasdaq or tech-weighted S&P 500. DJIA offers a value- and value-tilted industrial exposure that provides valuable diversification within an income portfolio.
Exclusive Strategy: Being the sole U.S. ETF provider applying a covered call overlays directly onto the 30 Dow components makes it a one-of-a-kind tool for income investors.
