April has come to an end so it is time for another update. This month was not a very good month for income from my accounts. Dividends were down this month. Premium from options trading was also down this month. Let’s take a look at how much dividends and options premium I received for April.
For the month, I received a total of $399.13 in dividends. This is a decrease over April 2023 when I received $405.57 in dividends. This is a 1.59% decrease year over year. The main reason for the decrease was the exiting of the Medical Properties Trust (MPW) position. For the year I have received $2,037.87 in dividends. This puts me at 29.11% toward my goal of $7,000 dividends received for the year. I am a little bit behind pace to reach my goal, but there is plenty of time left in the year to catch up.
Options premium received in April was down again this month when compared to previous months this year. The total for the month was $333.20. I mainly sell covered calls and it was a rough month for collecting premium. I need to keep more cash on hand for selling puts when the market goes down. I was very active this month in options trading. Below is chart of all the options trades I made in April.

The total amount of income produced from my accounts for April was $766.10. This includes dividends, options premium, and interest. This is the least amount of income my accounts have produced this year. This also breaks the streak of four straight months my accounts have produced over $1,300. Honestly, I am a bit disappointed with the big drop in income this month. But, if I look at the bigger picture, the amount of income my accounts produced this month is greater than total for 7 months in 2023. So while this seems like a setback this month, I am confident I am still on track for building my wealth. For the year, my accounts have produced $4,986.31 of income which has been reinvested back into the accounts to allow the compounding effect to grow my accounts. This puts me at 39.89% toward my goal of $12,500 of income from accounts this year.
April was a down month for income from accounts. Despite the down month, I am still ahead of the pace to reach my income goal for the year. As always, I will continue to invest and reinvest the dividends and options premium. Following this plan will allow the income from my accounts to grow. One day it will be enough to cover my expenses and allow me to retire. Thanks for following along! If a blue collar factory worker like me can do this, so can you. I encourage everyone to invest in their future!
